Old brick, short walks, and the river at the end of every street.

The Mill Quarter grew up around the old mills and foundry by the river. Today it’s the walkable heart of town: bungalows on narrow lots, lofts in the old industrial buildings, and a main street you can do all your errands on.
Streets here are short and gridded, with houses close to the sidewalk and porches that get used. Most homes are pre-1930 bungalows and cottages; the larger mill buildings have been turned into loft condominiums with tall windows and original brick.
People who buy here usually want to walk: to coffee, to dinner, to the river path. They trade a big garden for a porch and a five-minute walk to everything.
1910s–1930s, two to three bedrooms, small gardens

A few newer infill rows near the river
Best for: Walking to everything, character homes, a porch over a big garden
